The Bursary Society CFUW Sunshine Coast is a registered charitable organization, separately constituted with its own Board of Directors and bylaws. Directors are chosen from the CFUW Sunshine Coast Club (as all Club members are also members of the Bursary Society).
The Bursary Society receives funding from individual and private donations (Club members and non-members). We have received additional funding from local businesses. Funds also come from the Club’s fundraising projects, designated for the bursaries.
Such fundraising - which over the years has involved much hard work by Club members and the greatly appreciated donations of individuals and others, has resulted in over $224,000 being given as 200 educational bursaries since 1990.
The annual bursaries are for local women 21 years of age or over who wish to upgrade their skills and further their education. The annual bursaries are for a certificate, diploma or degree at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or through an accredited on-line program or course(s). The administration of the bursary applications, and the awarding of the bursaries are carried out by the Bursary Society. A selection process is held in the spring of each year.
In May 2021, the Bursary Society awarded a total of $9,000. among seven local women.

Your generosity has enabled the Bursary Society to help these women achieve their goals. Many of these women would not have been able to do so without the encouragement and financial support of the CFUW Sunshine Coast members and the Bursary Society. Their thank-you letters say it all!
